WELCOME!

The National Seasoning Manufacturers Association (NSMA) is the only trade association in the U.S. representing the blended seasoning industry.  NSMA was founded in 1973 to address issues arising from supplying seasonings to USDA inspected plants. Now in its 50th year, our role has expanded to represent the voice and insights of the nation’s seasoning manufacturing sector in interactions with the food and agriculture regulatory agencies, providing a practical and science-based voice for informing regulatory officials and programs on issues affecting the industry. Additionally, our role includes keeping members up-to-date on all the priority policy issues through ongoing updates and webinars. Collegial face-to-face meetings and ongoing interactions with FDA and USDA officials, and legislative officials, through NSMA representation, builds trust and credibility to inform the policies that govern us and work together to deliver safe, wholesome, and appealing products to consumers.

NSMA members produce or support the production of seasoning blends for table uses, coatings, breadings, batters, cures and rubs, sauces, toppings, dips, dressings, and prepared foods. Members’ products are destined for household consumers, retail sale, food production, and food service and institutional uses.

We are dedicated to promoting the goals and education of the blended seasoning industry and the affiliated government liaisons, and regulations pertaining to them. We endorse quality and safety standards and embrace compliance with acceptable handling and distribution within the domestic and international spice and seasoning trade.

NSMA works to promote the continual improvement in quality and wholesomeness of incoming spices and other Functional ingredients added to seasoning blends, and to address issues of imported spices and other Ingredients. The NSMA focal issues are:
